Description
We are looking for a motivated, skilled, quality minded, and detail oriented individual to act as a
senior data architect for a multi-million dollar financial systems. Our data / database environment
is an exciting, fast paced, and technologically with the times place to work and your expertise is
needed to further the . The Database Engineer will play an integr al role in the
success of projects specifically, s/he will:
General
·Take the lead role in designing the data model for an enterprise financial system.
·Deal one-on-one with global development teams and customers in a effective manner.
·Perform database design and development duties. This includes both physical and logical design
as well as implementation of the database as required by specific projects.
·Foster confidence in the development teams such that you become the database go-to person for
those teams.
·As part of the overall Database team, be a constant advocate for enterprise information and
technology vision, strategy, standards, and processes.
·Ensure your databases are secure and remain secure.
·Work with operations to ensure your databases are backed up and recoverable.
·Assist developers and customers with performance related problems.
·Design for excellence while minimizing the total cost of ownership.
·Stay current on technologies, technology trends and directions, and best practices. Evaluate
potential technologies for use within the enterprise.
·Push technology to meet extreme business requirements. Raise the bar in defining and
achieving excellence.
·Look for spiritual guidance in your daily decisions.
Specific
·Work closely at all levels including executives, customers, and other IT staff.
·Create and maintain Oracle Database physical and logical models designed for performance and
consistent with industry best practices.
·Refine physical and logical models to ensure completeness, accuracy, and meets data modeling
best practices.
·Review models and assist with capacity planning.
·Install new database applications
·Assist in Oracle database refactoring efforts.
·Create, upgrade and manage Oracle databases,
·Configure database backup and recovery strategies.
·Monitor database activity, performance and security on a regular basis.
·Assist development teams with testing of new database systems.
·Provide production support to production database systems.
·Manage database security.
·Write database related documentation
·Train users as required
·As required, develop PL/SQL code to manage databases, or to assist development projects with
application related PL/SQL requirements.
·Working with Development teams, design and implement database DDL to effect changes to
existing database designs.
·Tune SQL queries and database performance for OLTP and DSS applications within the
development environment
·Participate in design and code reviews, documentation of design, implementation of
methodologies to ensure high quality software
Qualifications
Qualification
·Must be an expert on data modeling and design.
·Expertise on the Oracle RDBMS.
·Bachelors degree or equivalent experience.
·3+ years of experience in development and management of complex database designs. Database
baby sitters need not apply.
·1+ years experience with PL/SQL.
·Experience and expertise in design and integration of data is preferred.
·Ability to design logical and physical models of moderate complexity.
·Love for getting your hands dirty in the technology. If you know what sql.bsq is, we want you.
·Must be a team player, and have excellent communication skills
·Attention to detail, and a commitment to quality work
