General
• Work with SQL Server database team members to implement standards and processes to ensure the viability of the SQL Server environment.
• Deal one-on-one with global development teams and customers in an effective manner.
• Assist developers and customers with performance related problems.
• Perform database design and development duties. This includes both physical and logical design as well as implementation of the database
as required by specific projects.
• Migrate and upgrade databases to SQL Server 2008
• Work closely at all levels with the including IT Staff, Developers, manager and customers.
• Meet with managers, users and developers and assess their needs.
Qualifications
• Work with customers to plan, schedule, and implement database migrations from existing SQL Server 2000 and 2005 platforms to SQL
Server 2008 clustered environment.
• Install new database applications
• Create, upgrade and manage databases,
• Configure database backup and recovery strategies.
• Perform test restores
• Monitor database activity, performance and security on a regular basis.
• Assist development teams with testing of new database systems.
• Provide production support to production database systems.
• Manage database security.
• Write database related documentation
• Train users as required
• As required, develop T-SQL code to manage databases, or to assist development projects with application related T-SQL requirements.
• Tune SQL queries and database performance for OLTP and DSS applications within the development environment
• Participate in design and code reviews, documentation of design, implementation of methodologies to ensure high quality software
